Office 365

This is an introductory PL to Office 365 and the new features that have been recently made available through the Department of Education. Through this interactive PL, attendees will be guided through the Office 365 platform accessing their OneDrive to experience real time collaboration with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Sway and Forms. Staff will learn a variety of new ways to introduce student collaboration as well as providing real time feedback to students.

The PL requires access to Office 365 Services, so please ensure that you speak to your administrator to ensure these services have been turned on. Writing- Improving students narrative writing

Please join Lesley McCarthy, Year 4 teacher Carramar Primary School, on how she used NAPLAN data to target these areas in writing to improve student results

  • Text Structure (both genres)
  • Persuasive Devices (Persuasive Text) & Audience (Narrative Text)
  • Sentence Structure (both genres)

 

To develop these areas, Lesley has developed resources and used specific strategies and structures to engage and assist students learning.

 

The first session, term 3 will be looking at narrative writing and in term 4, Persuasive writing.

Within this session on Narrative writing, Lesley will demonstrate the teaching strategies and structures she uses including:

  1. The use of acronyms - to support students in developing the three areas mentioned; text structure, audience & sentence structure.
  2. Cooperative Learning Structures - to engage and support student learning
  3. Gradual release model (Pie Corbett’s Copycat Method)
  4. Visible learning – Students analyse samples of text using resources using the NAPLAN marking guide.

Orff bring-and-share session. 34 Music teachers attended the 5 day Level 1 Orff accreditation workshop in Fremantle in July. The week 9 mtg. will be an opportunity for any Orff (or future Orff) teachers to share their experiences, practice, resources, reflections and ideas. Jan Ruscoe will host the meeting at Duncraig PS.
